The Scarf Issue

by | No Comments

Happy Sunday!

I am sorry that I have not been blogging as much lately. I have been so busy with work and promoting Jeluxury.com that I have no time for anything else. I am grateful for what I have don’t get me wrong…

A scarf is my fall must have accessory for its versatility; that can be worn to brighten an outfit with its simplicity, boldness or drama. I love them in different colors and materials such as cashmere or silk.

Here are some of my favorites from Nordstrom and make sure you check out the sales!

Have a wonderful day.

Current Fashion Trend: Ruching

by | No Comments

Dress: Philip Lim, Nordstrom

Hello all,

What has been used for many years to decorate women’s clothing, accessories, and quilts is now experiencing resurgence in current fashion trends. Ruching, a French term which means to gather, ruffle, or pleat is now my favorite fashion must have. I received so many comments on my Kenar ruched top (can be worn as a dress if you are 5’5” or under) at Penn Quarter, DC last week that I decided to do a blog post on it. It is not uncommon to see ruching in dress sleeves, waistbands, and collars.

Me in DC last week. Dress/top by Kenar, Bag by Coach “Sabrina”

Top Five Spring Perfumes

by | No Comments

Photo: Nordstrom

Hi,

Now that spring season is here, it is time to store fall/winter perfumes. The best perfumes for spring are light, fresh fragrance that lift your spirit. I love soft, feminine and elegance scents with woody/amber/musk notes. There are millions of spring scents, but here are my top five.

Hermès Eau des Merveilles

Photo: Hermès

I used Un Jardin Sur le Nil for many years before I switched to Eau des Merveilles. Launched in 2004 and created by perfumers Ralf Schwieger and Nathalie Feisthauer with notes of bitter orange, cedar, Italian lemon, ambergris accord, oak, elemi, vetiver, Indonesian pepper, balsam of Peru and tears of Siam. I prefer the Eau de Toilette (EDT) versus the parfum because the patchouli and cognac notes in the parfum are too dense and strong for my taste. The dry down in the EDT is very sexy.

L’Ombre dans L’Eau by Diptyque

Photo: Saks Fifth Avenue

Launched in 1983 and created by Serge Kalouguine. I got my first in Dubai and since then I have been hooked. The notes are listed as black currant leaf and Bulgarian rose and described as “scent of riverside garden”.

Gucci Eau de Parfum II

I have used many Gucci perfumes over the years but this one tops it all. This is the scent for the woman who demands attention. It is very mesmerizing, versatile and seductive.  Even though it is an eau de parfum, it is not too strong and it stays on your skin all day or night. The notes of black currant, violet and blackberry warmed with base notes of jasmine, heliotrope and cedar wood makes it sensual and intoxicating.

Aqua Di Parma Blu Mediterraneo

I am not a fan of citrus scents but this one is light, sophisticated and scrumptious. It reminds of the Island of Capri. It has notes of bergamot, grapefruit, mandarin, orange, petitgrain, cardamom, mate, musk and caramel.

CLEAN Provence

I love this soft and affordable scent. I use it when hitting the gym; it is perfect for those days when you just want to smell shower fresh. The notes of Provencal lemon, cotton blossom, rose geranium, sweet lime and violet musk makes it a refreshing scent to use.

Do you have a favorite spring perfume (s) that is not listed here? Care to share?

Have a wonderful day.

The tragedy in Haiti has touched every one of us and most of us have dedicated time, effort and monies to the earthquake relief. To raise funds for long-term recovery effort, the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) have created a $25 “Fashion for Haiti” T-shirt. The shirt went on sale February 16 at retailers across the country with proceeds benefiting the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund.

You can find the shirt at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, QVC, to name a few.
